[community profile] fandomtrees once again saw me on the needy trees list. That's not always a terrible place to be, as it means that the people who do step up, want to.

This time, salvation came from Tarlan and Celli.

Tarlan wrote me a delightful Highlander ficlet focused on Cory with spot on character progression:
Robbery Through the Years - 469 words - Cory recalls how robbery has changed through the centuries.

And Celli produced another wonderful little Highlander scene between Richie & Methos:
Find a Light - 394 words.

This exactly the kind of interaction I wish the boys had in canon.

Meanwhile, I managed to write about 95% of a ficlet and then ran out of time. So, I guess I'm ready to go for next year? Yes, I know I could still post it to the archive, yet it never seems like there's much point after the initial reveals.

I did not go to pinch hit for [community profile] chocolateboxcomm! As stories posted, I shook the gifts and thought I'd deduced the most likely candidates for which one could be mine. It turns out I was totally wrong.

Where I thought I was getting something MCU, instead I received a fun ficlet for Julie and the Phantoms from SoVeryAverageMe!

Reboot! Rebrand! Reinvent! - 1063 words - The phantoms get addicted to Teen Wolf, reminisce on the past, and kiss their MTV music video dreams goodbye. Although, not necessarily in that order.

I was so pleased to see the author take one of my standing prompts about the boys dealing with something that had changed while they were dead, and then really dig in by layering a couple other of my favorite things in. The Teen Wolf angle is one that never occurred to me, and yet was just sitting there, waiting to be plucked.

My own contribution was for [personal profile] elliebird. We actually matched on Teen Wolf, but her signup included so many fandoms in it I could do that for a few indulgent minutes, I contemplated writing a ficlet in each of them. (I may have contemplated writing the same basic scenario in each of them as an exercise to see how each of the sets of characters who deal with it differently). Thanks to the Snowflake Challenge, my plans ended up going an entirely different direction, and I wrote a Psych ficlet:

One Man's Trash - 2210 words - When Gus needs some help, Shawn takes it upon himself to provide it. AKA. Our boys sit in a car and argue for 2000 words ... about laundry.

Like with fandomtrees, I also managed to write about 95% of another ficlet (maybe 90%, if I'm being more fair) that maybe I'll finish some day.

However, I did succeed in finishing a Highlander treat for [personal profile] black_dwarf:

Mightier Than - 1034 words - Even Methos sometimes struggles with writer's block.

One of my Snowflake Challenge goals for this year included writing 12 stories in 10 different fandoms. I've now successfully finished and posted 2 in 2.
