Fest: Genfic Exchange

Dear Genficexchange writer,
Hi! Thank you for signing up for this exchange. I'm thrilled that we matched and that we already have so much in common. Odds are that you already know me and know my tastes. In case you don't, or just want them spelled out for you, I've included some basic info along with the prompts that were in my signup. Use what you need to. If you use a prompt and the story runs away from it, that's fine. If you prefer not to use my prompts, that's also fine. We're here to have a good time and roll around in some gen fic, so that's what's important.
Likes: Plot, h/c, whump, secrets revealed/discovered, lying by telling the truth, angst, drama, family drama, real world situations (parental-dating, high school is hard, starting college/moving out) complicated by the supernatural, humor, casefic, trapped!, running out of time, unexpected allies, trope inversions, ratings of R or lower for sexual material, strong friendships, friends with benefits, canon divergent AUs, canon based stories, crossovers.
Dislikes: PWPs, E or NC-17 rated sexual material, extreme jealousy, crack, non-con, non-canon AUs, character assassination/bashing, torture!porn, Sterek, permanent character maiming or death.
If you happen to be playing in one of the assorted bingo games out there and would like to double up on a prompt (or two), feel free.
In all cases, I'm A-OK with background pairings/polys. I do ask that you stick to those that canon gave us unless you know that I'd like some other combo.
H2O: Just Add Water
I selected Any for the characters here, and I mean it. If you want to focus on one of the characters, a couple of them, or a combination of all of them, that's up to you. On the one hand, I love ensemble stories, regardless of whether it deals with the combination of Emma-Cleo-Rikki, Cleo-Rikki-Bella, or even Emma-Cleo-Rikki-Bella. On the other, a slapfight between Cleo and Kim is long overdue, Emma is last "seen" traveling the world with her family, university is always a big transition that often involves making new friends, and outsider-POV!Lewis is bound to be fascinating.
For the mermaids, I'd love to know more about the little daily problems that their relationship with water creates for them: going to the beach with friends, surprise rain storms, leaky faucets, routine hand-washing, etc. I'm also curious about how the mermaid thing factors into their real life relationships such as the ability to make or maintain new friendships, or their relationships with their parents or siblings.
I'd also like to know more about mermaid mythology. The show explores the siren song, ambergris, and the full moon hypnosis thing. Any of these could use more exploration, as could other elements of the legends. Or, you could make up your own mermaid mythology. I know almost nothing about mermaid myth, so I'd love to learn more as seen through the eyes of these mermaids.
For Lewis, I'm interested in his time studying abroad. First there's the obvious cultural clashes, but there's also the knowledge clashes. Lewis knows about mermaids and magic for real and that's bound to be an issue with his marine biology studies and his pursuit of science. His previous run-ins with Dunman could also come back to haunt him. Or he has an encounter with Emma while they're both away that makes him question what he's being taught or how he's learning. Alternatively, did Lewis ever consider pursuing a tail of his own? The moon pool and its workings weren't exactly secret, so what stopped him from giving it a go?
If you would like to include characters other than Emma, Rikki, Cleo, Bella, or Lewis, have at it! I'm fine with any of them, including Nate and Charlotte.
The Tomorrow People (2013)
Characters: Luca Jameson, Stephen Jameson
What I'm looking for here is brother shenanigans. I'd really like to see Luca and Stephen spend some time together, bounce off each other, maybe come to some understanding. I'm especially interested in a story where Luca has to face his legacy. Perhaps he comes to accept that superpowers are really cool when they belong to someone else and he only has to blackmail that someone into using them on his behalf, or he has to make peace with the fact that he's going to break out some day, or he actually breaks out and has to cope with what that means for him. The first season took place over a whole year, so there's plenty of time for Luca and Stephen to take in a few basketball games, take on the school bullies, spend a weekend alone, or save the world from the aliens that are using Minecraft to brainwash the youth. Post-canon stories are great, too. Because I'm interested in the powers, pre-canon isn't really my bag unless there's time travel involved.
If you want to include any other canon characters or OCs that fit the world, have at it. My favorite canon characters are Astrid and John (though I can take or leave Astrid/John).
If you're familiar with any of the other versions of the TP and are up to adapting or plundering one of those storylines for the 2013 version, I definitely would not complain (except "A Man For Emily"; please don't do that one.)
Highlander: the Series
Characters: Richie Ryan, Angie Burke, Ceirdwyn
This is an "or" request. Focus on one of the selected characters or use any combination of the three, as you please.
What I'm looking for here is something set in the modern day where Immortality is, in some way, an issue for the main character.
With Richie, I'm Clan Denial all the way. Please keep him alive. Whether Angie and Ceirdwyn are aware of his aliveness, however, is a different issue.
For Angie, please keep her mortal.
Perhaps Angie runs into Richie on the streets of Seacouver and he's stuck trying to convince her that he's not the person she thinks he is. Only the more he tries to convince her, the more she sees through the snow job.
Perhaps Richie and Ceirdwyn have to work together on a mission. Richie-at-forty would have to be running into some serious friction between what he wants out of life and what his youthful face will let him have. Ceirdwyn, meanwhile, has thousands of years behind her and hundreds of identity reinventions. What could she teach him about living as an old person in a young body? What could he teach her about staying young?
Perhaps Angie and Ceirdwyn have become friends as two people who work with the more neglected parts of town. Ceirdwyn is forced to reveal her secret to Angie, in some way challenging their work.
Or, the revelation makes Angie wonder about her old friend Richie and the generous, but strange, couple he fell in with right before he died.
Teen Wolf
Characters: Scott McCall, Stiles Stilinski, Bobby Finstock, Danny Mahealani, Isaac Lahey
What I'm looking for here is lacrosse team gen. I'm not picky about the timeline of the team, so don't bend yourself into knots trying to figure out who's on the team, when. Just pick a roster line up and go with it. If you want to include team members who aren't one of my five selected (e.g. Jackson, Kira, Liam, Greenberg), do it. If you don't want to work with all five my selected, that's fine, too (though I'd prefer to you kept Scott significantly in the story, since he's my favorite).
Possibilities: An extended exhibition tour that takes the team away from Beacon Hills and really forces the team members to rely on each other. Especially during the full moon;
Coach introduces a new training regimen/diet program/herbal supplements that has some unexpected consequences on the were membership of the team;
Trust exercises;
Isaac doesn't do too well on long, confined bus trips or airplane rides and the other team members have to work together to keep themselves and him safe.
I'm always interested in werewolf stories where the werewolf's control is tested. I'm also always interested in stories where either a secret identity is revealed, or where people have to go to lengths to prevent the revelation of a secret identity when the reveal would be the easy path. Maybe Danny has to be conscripted into helping to cover for Scott or Isaac? Or Scott faces some challenges to his team leadership without Jackson around. While he's an Alpha werewolf, most of the team is not part of his pack and are therefore not naturally inclined to accept his authority.
I hope this info helps. If you need more info or want to seek out clarification on anything, you can ask htbthomas, who is familiar with my tastes and who knows how to keep a secret.
