Sunshine Challenge Day 6

The sunshine_challenge designated today as being to talk about our fannish things.

This is the time to share all of the things we have collected over the years showing our love for our favorite fandoms. This can include both things we personally own and things we wish we could add if money/space were no object. It also includes stories and memories that brighten our days.

Even though I have gotten rid of a lot of things, I have a couple items on permanent display.



This is a crew vest one of the former crew members of the show sent me after finding my fan site for this show on Geocities. Since the show wasn’t a Star* property (and I may have been the only one watching it), it had almost no merchandise. I’m sure the crew member was happy to get rid of a vest he was never going to use again once the show ended; I was just as thrilled to take ownership of it.





In 2008, the Hyperspace Convention was held, reuniting cast, crew, and fans of the two extant properties of The Tomorrow People.

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend :(

In a truly mind blowing and generous move, tptigger took it upon herself to have attendees sign “wish you were here” cards for me, which she surprised me with when she got back.

These cards are framed and hanging in my bedroom. After the living beings in my house, this is #1 on my list of “things to save in a fire.”

Oh wow, I don't know that show, but that is so cool that a crew member sent you that vest!

It was an 80s syndicated show. I’m not surprised you’ve never heard of it. Despite starring Jerry O’Connell, it’s never been released on any kind of video, which makes me suspect he’s suppressing it.

Yeah! It was really cool of the crew member to contact me. :) Who knew that a geocities account would ever be more than screaming into the void?

It really is! Those cards are one of the most thoughtful things anyone has ever done for me.

Really cool vest! I like that it's still wearable but still fannish, if that makes sense.

I’ve never worn the vest because it’s several sizes too large for me, but it is cool to have wearable apparel. The fannish stuff that does fit I wear all the time.
