Dear My Old Fandom Creator,

Hi! Thank you for signing up for some nostalgia. I'm very excited for the work you're going to do, as every one of my requested fandoms has been a big part of my fannish (and, in most cases, real life) for a long time. While I talk about some of the fandoms more than others, I promise that every fandom and character/group I've requested is one I really want to see a new work in.

I'm LadySilver on AO3 and argentum_ls just about everywhere else (if the underscore doesn't work, try a hyphen).

Below is a lot of nattering about what I like in my chosen fandoms. I've also included a lot of prompts and ideas. Use what you need to, but please, please do not think that any of these prompts are must-haves on my end. If none of the prompts speak to you (or if you prefer to write unprompted), then do what works for you. As long as you avoid my DNWs, I will enjoy your work.

Also, I participate in a lot of exchanges and fests. Sometimes I post prompt ideas directly to my DW or tumblr. All prompts are fair-game, no matter how old they are or whether someone filled them already, so if something I've posted elsewhere grabs your attention, go with it. Should you want to run an idea past someone who knows me, there's no one better than htbthomas, who has had to listen to me flail about every request here at some point.

I've requested fic for the first four fandoms and fic or art for the last one.

LIKES: Plot, h/c, whump, secrets revealed/discovered, lying by telling the truth, angst, drama, family drama, real world situations (e.g. parental-dating, high school is hard, starting college/moving out) complicated by the supernatural, humor, casefic, trapped!, running out of time, unexpected allies, trope inversions, ratings of R or lower for sexual material, strong friendships, canon divergent AUs, canon based stories, crossovers, outsider POV, when two characters think they're talking about the same thing and aren't, clever or unusual uses of a character's abilities. (For higher-rated stories, I like: friends with benefits, frottage, oral sex, first times, kissing, touching/touch, touch starvation, body discovery, situations where our characters could get caught but don't, consensual sex pollen, consensual voyeurism.)

DO NOT WANTS: Character bashing or assassination, permanent main character death, non-canon AUs, extreme jealousy, torture!porn, trans headcanons, zombies (For higher-rated stories, my dislikes are: non-con, anal anything, incest, fluid play, and pain play).

Highlander: the Series

Requests: Methos & Richie Ryan, Methos/Ceirdwyn, Methos/Amy Thomas, Richie Ryan, Ceirdwyn

When it comes to Richie, I'm Clan Denial all the way. "Archangel" either didn't happen or was a cruel misunderstanding.

Things I always appreciate in HL fic: identity conflicts (e.g. the difficulties in changing lives or creating new identities, scenarios where Immortals run into someone who knew them fifty years ago or who saw them die); fun with temporary death; and Quickenings with troublesome side effects (e.g. memory loss, memory disassociation, temporary acquisition of new skills/abilities that cause problems, physical pain, etc.).

Methos & Richie Ryan

I'm forever bitter that these two got no significant on screen time together. They could have made quite the tag team on Duncan if they'd joined forces. What I'm looking for here is the contrast of old & new, scenarios that let them explore their respective perspectives on Immortality and/or the Game, surprise camaraderie or bonding, or teaching moments (while Methos obviously has a great deal he could teach Richie, I think Richie might know a thing or two about the modern world that he could give back.) They don't need to be or become friends, but I'd like to see them interact directly with each other without Joe or Duncan buffering.

In the realm of really bizarre prompts: Something happens that throws Methos & Richie at least 500 years back in time together and they either have to rely on each other to get back or they have to rely on each other to live through the centuries (again, in Methos' case) without killing anyone who didn't die the first time. (Let me stress here that this prompt is absolutely not the one thing I really want to see. I've only thrown it here because it seemed like fun for these two.)

Methos/Amy Thomas

I'd love to see something develop between these two. Popular fanon has Amy being assigned as Methos' Watcher after "Indiscretions," and I'm happy to go along with that. Or you can get them together a different way. What I'm interested in is Amy either slowly figuring out who Doc Adams really is, or working through the conflicts caused by the "never interfere" part of her oath when she starts to fall for the Immortal who saved her, or Amy and Methos having to team up on some kind of Watcher project. I'd also be interested in Joe's reaction to finding out that his daughter has been secretly dating Methos, because I don't think he'd be cool with the idea at all.

Methos/Ceirdwyn

For these two, I'm not seeking relationship building, though if you have a story to tell there, I'd be happy to read it. Since Ceirdwyn is old, but is not one of Methos' victims, I think they might find some comfort in commiserating about how the world and their roles within it have changed. They've both been warriors; they've both seen the demise of their native cultures/religions/languages; and they've both shown that they can still care deeply about mortals and the mortal world, despite their ages. What I'm looking for is the kind of long term, temporary solace kind of relationship that Duncan and Amanda seemed to have in the early seasons, where Methos and Ceirdwyn happen to cross paths every now and then, spend a night or a week together, then go their merry ways and back to their mortal partners. A 5+1 fic could work really well here. But I'd also be interested in a scenario such as one of them showing up on the other's doorstep after taking a rough Quickening. Should their path crossing happen to cause a conflict with their mortal lives, so much the better: e.g. Ceirdwyn showing up while Methos is embedded in the Watchers, or Methos showing up while Ceirdwyn is married to a mortal.

Richie Ryan

I adored Richie because of how he was trying to deal with the whole Immortality thing the first time despite being truly unprepared for it, both culturally and personality-wise. God did he mess up, but he always meant well. I also think Duncan was probably the worst teacher he could have landed with. What I'm looking for with him is any scenario where his Immortality comes into conflict with his perception about the kind of life he's "supposed" to be living. Put him in college, or give him a long-term live-in girlfriend (like the story we almost got with Donna and Jeremy, had Kern not gotten in the way so quickly), or have him deal with needing to leave Seacouver, or let him run into Angie or Donna or Maria long after he should be dead to them. The world is moving on without him being able to move with it, and I want to see that explored.

Ceirdwyn

We only got her for one measly episode, yet I feel she had so much potential. She was a born and trained warrior who lived through eras where her skills and attitudes would have been roundly condemned, if not outright detrimental to her health. She's a survivor, as all old Immortals are, yet she hasn't lost her humanity or compassion, and she's still capable of functioning in the modern world and caring deeply about mortals. I would love to see exploration of any time in her life when her values came into conflict with the society she had to live in. Historical settings are welcome, as are stories set in the modern era. I'd be interested in any backstory of how she met Steven (her mortal husband in her episode) and their fifteen year relationship together. Or a look at what she does after the episode ends. Where is she now? And who is she now? Should you want to bring in other canon characters, I'd be especially interested in any of the ones from her "line": Matthew, Cory, Carl. Or maybe Ceirdwyn and Anne become colleagues, or Ceirdwyn and Amanda team up, or, you know what, pick your non-Duncan favorite and have them together in a scene and it's all good.

All canon characters (from H:TS or Raven) or OCs who fit the world are welcome to help populate your story.

My Secret Identity

Requests: Andrew Clements & Kirk Stevens & Cassie, Andrew Clements & Kirk Stevens, Andrew Clements & Erin Clements

One of the things I really liked about MSI was that the show was a real world/real high school setting. Andrew had powers, but there was no reason for the powers: no super villains, no prophecy, no great mission. Andrew so desperately wanted to be a superhero, and all he could really manage to be was an awkward teenager with teenage issues and the ability to float, run really fast, and be strong (which were just as often the problem as they were the solution). The police weren’t clamoring for his help, he didn’t masquerade as a vigilante (nor did it go very well when he tried), and the newspapers and public had no knowledge that a superhero lived among them. There’s a great metaphor in all this about the person we are inside and the person we’re allowed to show to others.

Another thing I really liked was how much Andrew fanboyed his own powers. While Ultraman was only mentioned in the first season, I loved that the character even existed. Andrew delighted in being able to do what he could do, and who could blame him? (Well, Dr. J could and did, but that’s beside the point.) Though Andrew did eventually mature a little and calm down (and what did happen to his comic book collection?), I don’t think he ever truly lost the wonder.

Andrew and Kirk are an interesting relationship because they're old friends who don't know much about each other. I think about who I was at 7 and who I was at 16 and how many friendships fell away for good reasons in the intervening years, and it really makes me wonder what makes this friendship tick and why both guys assumed their friendship should just pick up where it left off.

Cassie, meanwhile, is only in three episodes (1x18, 2x06, 2x20), but it's clear that she and Andrew have also known each other casually a long time. Her world is the school newspaper and keeping tabs on the local gossip; how soon until she starts to notice that there's more going on under her nose than one would expect to find?

Erin is the quintessential little sister, but I love that she was presented as more than someone who exists to be annoying. We get to see her being capable of reading and comprehending advanced scientific literature, and we get to see her have her own friendships and have her own problems with those friendships.

I do ask that the fic be set with Andrew in the 14-20ish age bracket. Him being a teenager/young adult and dealing with the powers is what interests me. If you want to update the year of the setting, that’s fine. I have no particular attachment to 1988-1992. However, I’m not ready for him to grow up and have a family, even if I did.

  • A lab accident causes Andrew's powers to sometimes leap into Kirk. The boys discover this in the most inopportune way.
  • Andrew and Kirk or Cassie get tied together as part of a class project on trust.
  • Kirk figures out that Andrew is hiding something from him, but arrives at a plausible yet wrong conclusion that he then proceeds to act on, much to Andrew's confusion. (+ Cassie or Erin)
  • Kirk needs to help Andrew conceal his powers (+Cassie or Erin). Andrew doesn't know that Kirk knows about his powers.
  • Andrew is responsible for babysitting Erin for a week while their mom goes out of town. Something happens (lab experiment gone wrong? powers malfunction?) that causes Erin to have to take charge.
  • After his time travel adventure in 3x08, Andrew tries to tell Erin what he learned about their father.

All canon characters are welcome to help populate your story, as are OCs who fit the world.

    The Tomorrow People (1973)

Requests: Elizabeth M'Bondo, Mike Bell, Stephen Jameson, Andrew Forbes, Chris Harding

I have a selection of characters here, some of whom have met in canon and some whom haven't. I adore stories where characters who have little or no screen time together get to interact. However, as long as the character we matched on is the focus of the story, you are free to include any canon character, regardless of whether I requested them or put them in the tag set, or OCs. Stories during or post-canon are both great.

With the TP, I'm always interested in the classic tropes: time travel gone wrong, mad scientists, evil popular culture, alien conspiracies, adventures on another planet, what's Colonel Masters on about this week?, etc.

I'm also interested in stories where the TP characters' powers or responsibilities come into conflict with their everyday lives/parents/routines/siblings/friends. I am an absolute sucker for stories where people with superpowers have to negotiate the role of their powers in a world that isn't suited for them and/or that can't know about them. For the non-powered characters, I'd love to know more about how their knowledge of the TP/aliens/time travel/etc. affects how they see and interact with a world where they're the only ones who do know.

Please do not ship the characters with each other. If you want to invent an OC spouse for, say, Stephen to be married to in 2016, go for it. Just don't make that spouse be any TP or Sap we've already met in canon. (Should you want to write shipfic, slash, het, or poly are all fine.)

  • Stephen & Elizabeth having to figure out how to balance being student and teacher in some contexts and coworkers in others.
  • What does Stephen get up to after he leaves the TP?
  • Mike's challenges at trying to be in his band, be the coolest kid on the block, and get a girlfriend when he's constantly being called off to save the world.
  • How does being telepathic change Elizabeth's approach to or perspective on teaching?
  • In one of the intervals when all the TP are off-world, Chris finds himself stuck with a new breakout.
  • On one of the occasions when Andrew is left behind in the lab, the excitement all comes to him.
  • Andrew & Stephen meet while on separate, (seemingly?) unrelated time travel missions.

Crossovers with any other version of the TP are welcome.

    The Tomorrow People (1992)

Requests: Adam Newman, Ami Jackson & Lisa Davies & Jade Weston, Adam Newman & Megabyte Damon & Jade Weston, Adam Newman & Megabyte Damon & Ami Jackson

Canon put these characters into a lot of strange, even absurd, situations, but it didn't give us a lot of time to see them as people.

While I'm always interested in the classic TP tropes--mad scientists, time travel gone wrong, evil popular culture, government/corporate conspiracies to use or control the TP, etc.--what I'd like to see is the human side of these characters as they deal with the big crises. I want to know more about who they are when they're between savings-of-the-world, or when their version of saving the world isn't the right answer, or when they're in over their heads. Basically, I'm interested in stories where the big adventure isn't the primary focus of what's going on.

This show also created a conundrum where "every kid in the world could be a Tomorrow Person," yet we only saw six, spread out over three years. Were they it? If so, why? If not, why were there so few?

Crossovers with any other version of the TP are welcome.

    21 Jump Street

Requests: Tom Hanson & Doug Penhall & Judy Hoffs & Harry Ioke, Judy Hoffs & Harry Ioke & Adam Fuller, Anthony McCann & Joey Penhall & Judy Hoffs

So, if you've looked over the rest of my sign-up, you might have noticed that this is my sole request where no one has superpowers. That confused me for a long time too, because normally I'm not into police procedurals. I finally figured out that what I like about this show is the same thing I like about the others: our characters do have a secret life, one which is more powerful than what they get to show the world. In part, their secret is being adults while masquerading as children. In part, their secret is the powers that come with being undercover police officers, such as the ability to go places they're not supposed to and engage in activities that are illegal, as long as the end goal is justice. This is the only fandom, though, where having the characters' "secret identity" outed would be distasteful to me. While I love the scenes where they out themselves, I would prefer if you'd avoid scenarios where their cover is blown.

I've requested three ensemble groups. All canon characters or OCs are also welcome.

What I'm interested in is case-related works. I love any scenarios where the characters have to go undercover, especially when the assignment is a radical departure from who they really are. (See what I mean?)

Stories do not need to be case fic, per se, though I'd never say no to that. Stories where the characters are preparing for a case, or where they're on a case and they encounter some kind of conflict between their undercover-lives and their adult-lives, or where they're recovering from a case or a particularly difficult persona are all excellent. Characters dealing with ethical or moral dilemmas while undercover are also good, such as when the high school student tried to seduce Tony.

I'm also interested in art that shows the characters in different persona. The setting of the show provided all the 80s fashion one could want. For this, any other era or subculture would be welcome. Imagine the team infiltrating a drama club or a reenactment society or a LARPing group. Should you be inclined to art for this fandom, feel free to focus on any one of the characters I've requested above rather than trying to deal with the whole ensemble. Art wise: I don't like chibis and I don't like the style of giving characters red noses and cheeks. Otherwise, I am at your mercy.

I did not like the recent movies, so I'd prefer they be ignored. However, I have no objection to the show characters being repositioned in time. Seeing how their jobs would be different, assuming they'd even still be possible, in the post-9/11 world intrigues me.

Crossovers with any other live-action show I've written are also welcome.

I very much look forward to the work you're going to make. Thank you for signing up!
