AU Bingo Round-Up

argentum_lsAU Bingo Round 2 is Over.
Overall Thoughts:
Originally I said I wasn't going to participate in this challenge. My willpower lasted all of about six hours. So I signed up for my first fanfic bingo game. From when I first saw my card, my goal was to complete two bingos: a diagonal cross and a vertical/horizontal cross, with the goal of making a starburst pattern. I did end up completing this goal, though it took a cramming of 14 stories in March to make that happen. I was also going to do a Teen Wolf only card. Around January, I realized that was not going to happen.
I've never been a huge fan of the AU format, with some specific exceptions (such as those found in "fix-it" fics). One of my personal goals in signing up for this challenge was to explore the AU format more and to try to broaden my own writing range by going into stories that I'd never otherwise choose to do.
For the most part, I found that extremely difficult to do. I did manage a couple of more extreme AUs (and a couple of straight-out crack!fics), but overall, each story still was an effort to stay as close to canon as possible while still working the prompt in. I think the only thing this challenge did was confirm that I don't like writing AUs.
Overall, I'm glad the challenge is over so I can return to more comfortable stories. On the other hand, I did like having prompts and rules to write within. And, there's a part of me that's already thinking about what possibilities might arrive on Round 3's card, despite the fact that I have no intention of signing up for that one either. You know, until I do.
